ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

Partnership

· Ovilla Christian School functions as an extension of the Christian home. We provide programs in support of parents who seek to obey the biblical instruction which gives them ultimate responsibility for the spiritual education of their children (Deuteronomy 6:7-8). 

· Parents must understand and agree with the published Statement of Faith and the mission of Ovilla Christian School.

· The family must believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and is, therefore, the basis for all life and learning. Every aspect of the educational program is Christ-centered. 

· Parents must be actively engaged with the education of their children and support the policies and procedures necessary for the healthy functioning of the learning community.

Faith

· The educational program of Ovilla Christian School is designed for children in grades PreK-12 whose parents are committed to a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. At least one parent or guardian must provide a personal testimony of a relationship with Jesus Christ.

· In grades 6-12 the student must be a professing Christ follower. Middle and Upper School students are required to provide a handwritten statement of their testimony of God’s work in their lives.

· Families are expected to be regularly worshiping and actively participating in a local evangelical Christian church centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture. A Ministerial Reference Form must be completed by the family’s pastor or minister.

· Ovilla Christian School will endeavor to foster in every student an active and growing faith in Jesus Christ and a lifestyle that is based on the authoritative and inerrant Word of God.

Academics

· Students entering grades 1–12 must be working academically on grade level as demonstrated by assessments and academic records.

· Students entering Kindergarten must demonstrate readiness to begin school based on an assessment and must be five years old by September 1.

· Students entering PreK4 must demonstrate readiness to begin school based on an assessment and must be four years old by September 1 (more info on PreK4 requirements).

· Students entering PreK3 must be three years old by September 1 (more info on PreK3 requirements).

· Each student must provide evidence of a commitment to the learning process based on:

-Teacher evaluations and academic records that indicate the student is an independent learner who can be successful in a college preparatory environment.

-Admissions assessment that indicates the student is equipped to succeed in a rigorous academic climate.

-Satisfactory conduct records.

-Family interview(s). 


STEPS TO APPLY

  1. Create an account and complete a New Student Application.

    • A $77 non-refundable fee per student application is required.

  2. After the application has been completed online, the Admissions Office will review the application.

    • If the applicant is considered for admission, the Admissions Office will contact the parent to schedule a time for entrance testing (K–Grade 12).

    • A Family Interview will be scheduled based on the results of the entrance testing and the availability in the grade level.

    • Following the Family Interview, the Admissions Office will contact the parent to:

      • offer admission;

      • decline to offer admission;

      • or notify of placement in the wait pool.

  3. Upon offer of admission, the parent will receive an email to complete the final enrollment steps and pay the enrollment fee of $500 per student.

OCS does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its student financial assistance, educational or athletic programs, and other school-administered programs.

Forms and Documents Required During the Application Process

Each new student application in all grades requires:

  1. Birth certificate

  2. Immunization records

  3. Ministerial Reference (email contact needed)

Grades 1-5 also require:

  1. Academic records, including grades and test scores

  2. Elementary Teacher Evaluation (email contact needed)

  3. IEP, 504 Plan, diagnostic testing or evaluation results (if applicable)

Grades 6-12 also require:

  1. Academic records, including report card and high school transcript

  2. English/Language Arts/Reading (ELAR) Teacher Evaluation (email contact needed)

  3. Math Teacher Evaluation (email contact needed)

  4. IEP, 504 Plan, diagnostic testing or evaluation results (if applicable)

Additional information such as discipline records and custodial agreements may be required.
