Dear OCS parents,
In compliance with the order of Governor Abbott that both public and private schools are closed for the remainder of the school year, the facilities of Ovilla Christian School will remain closed, and we will continue serving students through distance learning through the final day of school on Thursday, May 21. Although we are disappointed over all of the missed opportunities and events of the spring of 2020 and missing tremendously our daily face-to-face interactions with our OCS students and families, we remain faithful that God’s plans are greater than our own and He is sovereign. We trust that His purposes are good even in the midst of a crisis, and He is shaping each of us to be more Christlike.
OCS is family, and families stick together during trials. We will continue to labor diligently to provide OCS students the excellence in Christ-centered education that has always been our passion. Our mission remains the same: Ovilla Christian School is a college-preparatory learning community developing servant leaders who love God and love people. These circumstances of distance learning have only made us even more resolute and creative in how we best work toward that mission. OCS teachers were discussing and planning this week for some new ways of serving the learning community well in the month of May, and administrative plans for the 2020-2021 school year are fully in motion.
The first day of school in the fall is Thursday, August 20, and we are busy with our normal spring planning to begin our best year ever. We are looking forward to our addition of Josh Johnson to the Executive Leadership Team, and we have been working closely with the OCS Board on some improvements and additions to the programs and policies of the school. We are excited for the continued innovations of this season of distance learning, for the anticipation of resuming in-person interactions and gathering, and for a fantastic 2020-2021 school year.
Please join us in praying for the well-being of the entire OCS community during this difficult season. We are resolved to continue loving people well in compliance with the orders and suggestions of our government officials and medical experts. If you have any needs that your OCS family can help with, please do not hesitate to reach out to us either through an OCS teacher or the OCS Office (hnoice@ovillachristianschool.org).
Sincerely,
Penny Hayes, Lezlie Rozier, Corey Acton
